Lola fell in love with Middle Eastern dance at her very first lesson, many years ago, and continues to feel joy and inspiration to this day. She studied with Samisha Shami for almost ten years and was a member of the Shami Mir Dance Ensemble. She has also studied locally with Astryd Farah deMichele and attended workshops and classes all over the Western United States and Cairo, Egypt. Workshop instructors include Mona Said, Raqia Hassan, Yousry Sharif, Nagwa Fouad, Mahmoud Reda, Shalaby, Diana Tarkhan, Randa Kamel and many, many others. She loves to study this ancient art form and finds that there is always more to express.

In addition to studying and teaching, Lola performs regularly in Eugene, Oregon, and is a founding member of Ja’La Nour.

Lola is inspired by the deep musicality and emotional content of Middle Eastern music. Her goal is to express that feeling in her dance, and to share the joy with others through her performance and teaching.
