Fall Festival Live Music Lottery!

Karsilama  will our featured live music for our 15th Annual Fall Festival, and we will have a lottery for dance spots.  Please find the online form here.  This form closes on Friday, September 7 at 11:59 pm.  We will also take lottery submissions at the MEDGE Monthly Show on Saturday, September 8, and names will be drawn during intermission of the the September 8 show.  Good luck!

Acoustic Pilgrims Live Music Lottery!

Acoustic Pilgrims  will be featured for September 2018, and we will have a lottery for dance spots.  Please find the online form here.  This form closes on Thursday, August 10 at 11:59 pm.  We will also take lottery submissions at the MEDGE Monthly Show on Saturday, August 11, and names will be drawn during intermission of the August 11 show.

Fall festival 2018 – featuring Abigail Keyes!

At our monthly guild show last weekend we revealed our Fall Festival headliner as none other than the amazing Abigail Keyes Dance! We are so excited to host her! More details on workshops to follow, but in the meantime, here is a little about her:

Abigail Keyes is a lifelong performer with a passion for education, cultural awareness, and the movement arts of the Middle East. She has taught on five continents and is also an esteemed and respected dance writer.

She began her studies of Middle Eastern, North African, and Anatolian dances with Kim Leary, continued her core studies with Artemis Mourat. She currently studies under the guidance of master instructor Suhaila Salimpour.

She holds a B.A. in Near Eastern Studies from Princeton University, has studied the Arabic language at the Monterey Institute of International Studies. Recently she earned an M.A. in Dance Studies from Mills College in Oakland, California, with a focus on the mind-body connection, creativity and composition, and teaching methodology. She is Assistant Director of the Salimpour Collective Berkeley, Suhaila Dance Company, and Bal Anat—the longest running Middle Eastern dance company in the world. Abby has Suhaila Level 5 and Jamila Level 5 certifications, and is a staff instructor at the Salimpour School in Berkeley, California. Student Show Performance Proposal now available!

Sunday, June 3, MEDGE will have it’s annual student showcase at Willamalane Adult Activity Center, 215 W. C St., Springfield, OR  97477 (NOT the Keefer Center).  Instructors or other participants – please fill out the form to be considered for this performance opportunity.  

Participants may begin arriving at 3:00 pm (no later than 3:30), with show beginning at 4:00 pm.  We will also be looking for volunteers to help put up and take down chairs and dressing room.  Contact medgepc@gmail.com to be added to the volunteer list.

Arabesque May 2018 dance lottery!

Arabesque will be featured for May 2018, and we will have a lottery for dance spots.  Please find the online form here.  This form closes on Friday, April 13 at 11:59 pm.  We will also take lottery submissions at the MEDGE International Dance Day Show on Saturday, April 14, and names will be drawn during intermission of the April 14 show.

MEDGE board meetings now 4th Fridays, 6:30-8pm

The MEDGE board of directors meetings will now be held on the 4th Friday of each month from 6:30-8pm at the Whole Foods Community Room in Eugene.   There will not be a January board meeting, FYI.
