Salome’ Bahar, featured 1/2011

Salome’ Bahar was first introduced to Middle Eastern Dance in 1998. Middle Eastern Dance has swept Salome’ away in a way she never knew was possible. She is drawn to the complex rhythms, the history of the dance, the beautiful isolating movements, focusing on the joyful way to express emotion and passion….(and the shiny costumes!) She has studied with many teachers in the area including Razia, Lola, Annette, Dunyah and Samisha Shami. Salome’ performs regularly in Eugene and throughout Oregon at various festivals and fairs.

She has just completed serving as the Executive Secretary of MEDGE for the last three years. MEDGE is very important to her and she enjoys supporting and volunteering for this organization that she loves and believes in.

She dances regularly with the beautiful Zahia as the duet “Rare Gems”. She also has some amazing students that have toured with her throughout Oregon performing choreographies that she has taught them in classes this past year. All her sisters-in-dance are very precious to her!

MEDGE offers regular monthly shows the third Friday of each month at The Strand/Cozmic Pizza, 8th & Charnelton in Eugene, OR.  Shows are family-friendly.  8:30 p.m., $5 suggested donation.
