Souzana is an award winning professional dancer whose style has been described as dynamic, captivating, elegant and emotive. She specializes in Modern American and Classic styles of belly dance but curiosity and an adventurous spirit led her to years of study of dance genres including: Jazz, Ballet, Tap, Hip Hop, Latin, West African, Polynesian and more.
Originally from Salt Lake City Utah, Souzana received her initial belly dance training at Kismet under the direction of Yasamina Roque. Since then, she has studied with many renowned instructors including Aunt Rocky, Sahra Saeeda, Hadia, Bozenka, Saqra and Eva Cernik. Most recently, Souzana had the pleasure to coach with Ruby Beh one-on-one and as a company member in Ruby’s 7-month performance project, Props to Belly Dance and the more recent 9-month Vignettes project.
In 2001 while living in Fairbanks, Alaska, where she raised her son, taught classes and performed for nearly 13 years, Souzana co-founded Tundra Caravan Dance Troupe which she led as co-artistic director from 2005-2013. From 2005-2015 Souzana was hired annually as a guest artist for the esteemed Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival. This gave her the unique opportunity to work, collaborate, and perform with artists of many genres from Fairbanks and around the world.
In late 2013 Souzana relocated to Eugene, Oregon. In her new community, Souzana served on the board of directors in the positions of Consultant and President for Middle Eastern Dance Guild of Eugene.
